With 2009 drawing to a close, the .net awards acknowledge the latest and greatest in the world of web. Hotly contested and often with controversy,the 2009 winners we’re announced last night. With a 50 strong panel of judges including some of the industries heavy hitters Jeffrey Zeldman, Paul Boag, Andy Budd, Christian Heilmann, Jason Santa Maria, Jon Hicks, Ryan Carson and Jonathan Snook.

The 2009 winners are:

1).  Web application of the year – Dropbox

2). Best community site – Twitter

3). Best API Use – Tweetdeck

4). Interactive site of the year -NVIDIA Speak Visual

5). Blog of the year – Smashing magazine

6). Podcast of the year – Boagworld

7). Vodcast of the year – Diggnation

8). Design Agency of the year – Clearleft

Twitter went mad for Clear Left, clearly a popular winner

9). Innovation of the year – Google Chrome

10). Web personality of the year – Stephen Fry

11). Viral campaign of the yearBest job in the world / Nitro

12). Standards champion – Jeffrey Zeldman

13). Open source application of the year – Jquery

14). Redesign of the year – Whitehouse.gov

I figured Poke would have been a sure win for this

15). Mobile site of the year – Flickr

16). Mobile Application of the year – Shazam

17). Infamy award – IE6
