Have your say
December 18, 2009 by Dan
That faint whiff of Mulled wine and Turkey, it could only be Christmas in the Jellymedia office. With the week drawing to a close we’ve had our second mini party of the season, with a variety of festive Fayre baked, bought and roasted by our staff. Oh and somebody bought perennial party favorite quiche!

Kristine our community manager, has baked these rather exciting red ring of death cakes! a must for any XBOX 360 owner.

Lee brought us all home made Cottage pie

We’ll be closed over the Christmas period till the 5th of January. So happy Christmas from the Team at Jellymedia!

Have your say

This week in the roundup we’re focusing on a few sites that employ the large background technique. Large background sites are a great way to show off some minimal design techniques, as well as fantastic shots of products and illustrations.
25AH
25ah.se
25AH from Sweden have a site that is rich with high quality photographs of their work. Combined with the minimal nature of the rest of the site, this is the ideal showcase for their work. Their style is fairly upmarket and the standard of their photography and design reflects the image they are trying to portray.

My Lane
www.mylane.de
Taking an entirely different approach, the My Lane site is a combination of pixel graphics, large background and a unique shopping navigation with information on the various stores.

GOTOCHINA
www.ringvemedia.com
Who said student projects couldn’t be this good? When a bunch of Norwegian students made this site, little did they know it would end up in virtually every gallery to do with large background sites. A few years on it’s still a great example of how to do it right. The focus on large photography gives each page a nice context, and helps tell the story of the students as they cross China.

Large background sites can be a great way of giving a site a distinct character as the images naturally provide the colour scheme. What are your favourite large background sites?
